Interface tour
These captures show Ephervex with synthetic sample data. The images follow the site's color mode, so switch it to see the matching Ephervex theme. Every captured screen is on the screenshots page.
Ephervex is not affiliated with or endorsed by Mojang or Microsoft.
The window
The window has three columns.
- The left column is the host list. It holds the Ephervex logo with the version and a Refresh button, a Home button, a search field with a Filters button, a card for every instance and server, and the default account chip. The gear beside the chip opens Settings.
- The middle column shows Home, the instance or server you opened, or Settings.
- The right column appears beside Home only. It counts your temporary and persistent instances and your servers, shows how full the shared download cache is, and lists a few tips.
In a narrow window the host list and the right column leave the row. A button at the edge of the page opens either one over the page, and choosing a host or pressing the dimmed page closes it again.
Home lists what is running, anything that needs your attention, the hosts you ran last, and recent activity. See Running and activity.
Each card shows the host's name, a colored square and strip for its state, a favorite star, its group, chips for the Minecraft version and loader, and one state line: Ready, Not yet, Last run with how long ago, or Needs fix. A badge counts the problems recorded for the host. Press a card to open that host. Search, filters, and groups narrow a long list; see Instances.
The Quick view button on a card shows that host over the window without leaving the page you are on. Open as page opens it in the middle column, Fullscreen enlarges it, and Close quick view returns to where you were.
Creating and importing
Create an instance by choosing an exact Minecraft release, a loader (Vanilla, Forge, or NeoForge), and a loader version.
Import a Modrinth or CurseForge pack from a file, a link, or by dropping it on the window. The dialog shows what the pack contains before anything is installed. Optional files stay off unless you choose them.
Some CurseForge authors disable third-party downloads. Ephervex shows the blocked file with an Open in Browser action so you can download it manually.
While an import runs, the instance appears as a card with progress. Activity shows the current operation and recent results while Ephervex stays open.
See Import Modpacks for archive and link imports, optional files, CurseForge access, and manual downloads.
Case
An instance's header can show a link to the issue it reproduces. The Case tab next to Overview keeps the steps that trigger the bug, a note, how often the bug showed up again, and a history of what happened to the instance.
See Track the bug you are reproducing for the steps, the issue summary you can copy into a bug report, and the matching CLI commands.
Mods
The Mods surface lists every mod of an instance in one table and marks where each came from: the pack, a dependency, your own addition, or a jar you placed by hand. Add Mods opens a catalog dialog that only offers versions that fit the instance's exact Minecraft version and loader.
Turning a mod off shows what depends on it first.
When a problem appears with a large mod set, mod isolation narrows it down by enabling and disabling groups of mods between test launches.
See Mods for installation, switches, version changes, dependencies, and file repair. The Mod Isolation guide walks through each test round.
Packs
The Packs surface lists the resource packs, shader packs, and data packs that an imported pack placed in the host's game folder. They are not mods and are not listed with the mods. Each card shows the pack's name, its kind, whether the file is present or missing, its path, and where it came from. A data pack also names the world that owns it. The surface only reads: it changes nothing and contacts no provider.
An instance imported before this list existed shows only the files its pack
named until it is imported again. The same list is available on the command
line with ephervex packs --instance INSTANCE_ID or
ephervex packs --server SERVER_ID.
Servers
A server can stand alone or be linked to a client instance. The server page shows its address and state and offers start, stop, restart, and console access.
Properties groups most server.properties settings into cards and shows
the state of the Minecraft EULA. The server's Settings holds its Java,
memory, and JVM arguments. The workspace header shows the host's Java and its
status; select it to open Settings.
A Forge or NeoForge server's Mods page can also search the catalog, leaving out client-only mods.
See Servers for creation, EULA consent, network settings, console controls, linked client launches, and recovery.
Split view
Select the split view button beside Open Folder in a workspace header to show a second pane, for example a client's log beside its server's console. Select the host's name in a pane's header to choose what it shows; Show in this pane can search every instance and server. Beside each pane's tabs, the folder button opens that host's folder, and the other buttons add a pane below or close the pane.
Running and activity
The Running now card on Home lists the client instances and servers Ephervex currently supervises. You can open their logs, stop a game, or open a server console from it. Needs your attention lists hosts with a recorded problem and opens the host that explains it, and Continue where you left off lists the hosts you ran last.
The Activity card shows running, queued, completed, failed, and canceled operations. You can cancel work that is still running or queued. Activity is cleared when Ephervex exits.
When something goes wrong
The live log can filter by level and search. Crash reports are listed beside it.
Diagnostics checks a host for known problems and shows a preview of any fix. Nothing changes until you apply it.
See Diagnostics for logs, crash reports, fix previews, and local bundles.
Snapshots keep a restorable copy of an instance's state.
See Snapshots to capture, restore, rename, and delete local saved states.
Accounts and settings
Offline and Microsoft accounts are managed in Settings.
See Accounts to add an account, sign in, or choose one for a launch.
See Settings for Minecraft defaults, Java, providers, storage, and disk usage.
Keyboard and accessibility
Buttons, switches, filter chips, and navigation entries take keyboard focus with Tab and show a focus ring. Enter or Space activates the focused control. Sliders move one step at a time with the arrow keys, by ten steps with Page Up and Page Down, and to either end with Home and End. Icon-only buttons show a tooltip naming their action. A disabled button explains on hover why it is unavailable, and keyboard focus skips it.
